23 Dec 2021

Asphodelos: The First Circle is the first encounter of the first 8-man, normal raid content released with Patch 6.01 of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. It’s available at level 90 by finishing the Main Scenario Quest Endwalker and unlocked by the quest Where Familiars Dare. It can be completed via the duty finder with a minimum ilvl of 565 and rewards Unsung tokens of Asphodelos for each gear type, which can be turned in to Djole at (x:10.3, y:9.7) in Meghaduta, Radz-at-Han. Mylenie at (x:8.4, y:27.7) in Aporia, Labyrinthos will also exchange Unsung tokens of Asphodelos for gear.

For the sake of your fellow players, please remember that this is new content (at the time of this publication). A little friendly explanation can go a long way. Similarly, don’t be afraid to take advice. You may learn something you didn’t know.

Erichthonios

  • Gaoler’s Flail – The boss will thunk the end of his flail into the ground on either his left or right, then whirl it in a circle surrounded by purple energy. Eventually, he’ll swipe the flail 180° on that side of him.
  • Gaoler’s Flail
  • Warder’s Wrath – Raid-wide damage.
  • Pitiless Flail – A random player will be targeted with a reticle and a linear AoE indicator that will follow them as they move. Untargeted players should stand clear, while the targeted player stands still and moves close to the boss, since the attack hitting them is also a knock-back. If shielded fully, this attack will not knock the player back. After the initial attack goes off, the targeted player will get a stack marker on them.
  • Gaoler’s Flail
  • Heavy Hand – A tank buster.
  • Intemperance – Erichthonios will apply either a “Cold Spell” or a “Hot Spell” debuff on all players. You’ll be able to see this both by the debuff icon itself or the triangle of the matching color spinning over your head. Seconds later, the floor will be visually split into quadrants, with a stack of three blocks in a mixture of red and blue in each.
  • Intemperate Torment – At the end of this cast, you must make sure you’ve moved into a quadrant with a block on the bottom of the stack that is the color other than what your debuff is. Aka, if you have the blue “Cold Spell,” be in a quadrant with a red block on the bottom of the block stack, and vice-versa. You’ll have another few seconds after the first block explodes to move into a quadrant with a non-matching block (or stay if the odds are in your favor), but notice that your debuff has changed to the opposite color now since you were exposed to the explosion of the opposite block. This mismatching will happen three times in total, once for every block. Getting caught in a quadrant with a block the same color as your debuff results in high damage, and getting caught on the dark line between quadrants results in instant death. All quadrants do not have to be filled.
  • Warder’s Wrath
  • Heavy Hand
  • Shining Cells – Our resident, evil chain swinger will change up the arena floor again, dividing it into 8 slices, with each of those divided in half longways, sort of like the center of a spiderweb. Or an umbrella. Every other cell between the chains that mark off this pattern will be red or blue/white. This transition also does raid-wide damage.
  • Aetherchain – Orbs of magic will whirl around the boss, either of fire or light. If the orbs are fire, avoid standing on the red colored floor cells. If they’re light, avoid the blue/white.
  • Aetherchain
  • Aetherflail – The same rules as Aetherchain apply here, but this time the boss will also be swinging his flail like he did for Gaoler’s Flail. Avoid the correct colored floor tiles while standing on the half of the arena that won’t be struck with the flail.
  • Aetherflail
  • Pitiless Flail
  • Aetherflail
  • Slam Shut – Erichthonios returns the stage to its original form with a bit of raid-wide damage.
  • Intemperance*
  • Intemperate Torment
  • Gaoler’s Flail – The boss will begin casting this while Intemperate Torment is still going on, but it won’t go off until afterward.
  • Warder’s Wrath
  • Warder’s Wrath
  • Heavy Hand
  • Shining Cells
  • Aetherflail
  • Aetherflail
  • Pitiless Flail
  • Aetherflail
  • Slam Shut
  • *Repeats from Intemperance until defeat.
