During today’s PlayStation Showcase, Sony unveiled more than twenty new announcement trailers. Ranging from new trailers for already announced titles to new indie games, first party titles all the way to new PSVR2 and AAA games. You can find the full 70 minute showcase here. If you just want the gist of it all, we have summed up the highlights for you right below.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

The rumors about a remake of any game in the genre-defining stealth series have been going around for years. Now fans can finally look forward to the return of Snake Eater in a full remake with modern graphics and gameplay. There is no official word yet whether or not the original voice actor for Naked Snake, David Hayter, will reprise his role or not.

While Konami published a message from the developers saying they are making “a faithful recreation of the original story and game design, while evolving the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience”, the actor and writer himself quickly took to Twitter and announced his involvement in another game that was announced during the show:

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be coming to PlayStation 5, XBox Series, and Steam. Additionally, Konami announced Vol. 1 of a Metal Gear Solid Master Collection for modern platforms, including the original Metal Gear Solid, and its sequels Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater for fall this year.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Only a short while after developer Insomniac confirmed again that the game would be single player only, despite Spider-Man 2 featuring both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as playable web swinger, we get not one but two new trailers for Sony’s blockbuster. Apart from the two minute introduction of Kraven as a major villain, we also got a full ten minute gameplay video showing both Venom and Miles’ gameplay.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 in Fall 2023.

Final Fantasy XVI

No PlayStation event recently would be complete without at least a mention of the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI. We just recently published our own preview of the game and now, only a month before release, we get yet another trailer for this Square Enix title. As the official launch trailer, this will likely be the last new trailer we get before everyone can play the game. The trailer gives us another look at the different Dominants, wielders of immense power who are able to summon the series’ familiar Eikons. It also outlines not only the struggle of these chosen few but the populace at large.

Final Fantasy XVI releases on June 22 exclusively on PlayStation 5.

Alan Wake 2

First announced during the 2021 Game Awards, we now finally have a release date and a full trailer with gameplay for the sequel to the 2010 horror game. After the successful remaster of the original game, the sequel introduces a new hero to the story: Saga Anderson, an FBI agent who starts investigating murders in Bright Falls. Her story soon takes on nightmarish proportions as her life starts to more and more resemble that of the missing writer and titular hero Alan Wake.

Remedy Entertainment’s latest title will release this year just in time for the horror season on October 17 for PlayStation 5, XBox Series, and Windows. According to the FAQ on the Alan Wake website, the title will be digital-only and there are currently no plans of a physical release for this game.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Ubisoft’s latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise is returning to its roots with Baghdad as Mirage‘s setting. The player will be following the story of Basim, a central character in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, how he joined the Order, and what mysteries his true identity holds. After Odyssey and Valhalla, players will also return to playing a true assassin trained in creed.

Being so close to the franchise’s first game, players can look forward to exploring the ancestral halls of the assassin’s order in Alamut. Assassin’s Creed: Mirage will be available for PlayStation 4 & 5, XBox Series, and PC on October 12 this year.

Marathon

Bungie announced a while ago that they were working on a new title in the Marathon universe and we now got a first glimpse what this new title will look like. Following the PlayStation Showcase, Bungie later released a short video documentary about Marathon, in which they confirm a few important tidbits about the game. Similar to Destiny, this new PvP extraction shooter will be available on several platforms with cross-play and cross-save functionality.

The game currently is in its early Alpha phase of development and the development team mentioned that they will be focussing on bringing the game to life first before showing more of Marathon in the future. Because of this, no release date has been announced so far.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape

With Season of the Deep just launched this week and the new collaboration with three of Sony’s first party titles freshly announced, this is the latest bit of news in a very busy schedule for Destiny players. And the thumbnail for the teaser trailer for the upcoming expasion The Final Shape will surely leave people speechless or shouting profanities at their screen.

For many players Cayde-6 was the most beloved character in the franchise and his untimely death in the Forsaken expansion is still haunting the game’s story years later. It will be interesting to see how his return is possible and how lasting it might be. Whatever the truth may be, we will be hearing more about the new expansion during a showcase on August 22, just ahead of this year’s GamesCom. And contrary to Metal Gear Solid 3‘s remake, we did already get the confirmation that Nathan Drake will reprise his role as the former Hunter Vanguard.

Dragon’s Dogma 2

Another long-awaited sequel comes from Capcom. With the shutdown of the Dragon’s Dogma MMO back in 2019, fans of the franchise have been hoping for a sequel. Judging from the trailer, players will again take the mantle of the Arisen, a hero of legend reborn from death and fated to slay the dragon that took their heart. Back as well is combat on top of large beasts and monsters while the character clings to feathers, fur, and scales. Players will once again enlist NPC characters who will fight alongside them on their travels.

On top of all of this was a slew of new PS VR announcements and even more games. Again, if you want to watch the full showcase, you can do so here.
