Today, the August 2020 version update landed for Final Fantasy XI. While normally these monthly updates would add rotations to content and adjustments, this month is especially important as it sees the beginning of new story content.

The Voracious Resurgence will be a multi-part story that the developers say will unfold as they approach the games 20th anniversary.

We are excited to bring you the first installment of The Voracious Resurgence, our newest storyline that commences with the August version update. The team is working hard to bring you new narrative experiences, but please note that The Voracious Resurgence is content that we are doing in addition to–not in place of–the normal monthly version updates that we have been bringing you the past few years. As such, the size of each individual entry in the storyline is a bit on the humble side; however, we are committed to the long haul with The Voracious Resurgence, which is scheduled to conclude in 2022 in celebration of the 20th Vana’versary. We hope that you will enjoy the story along with us as we embark on Vana’diel’s newest journey.

As always, this update also brings new foes to defeat in Ambuscade and changes objectives for Records of Eminence. Additionally, this month there are adjustments for Beastmaster which adds new traits and pets.
